Retirement Plan Consulting and Investment Advisory Services
There are many things to consider when choosing a provider for your retirement plan.
Plan sponsors should carefully consider things such as plan design and
administration services, investment options, communication with participants, fees,
and fiduciary responsibilities. There is a broad spectrum of services available in
the market today, but we saw a need for something different. Not your typical
cookie cutter 401k plan. We saw the need for personalized service at a higher
level for both the plan sponsor and the participant. Too often our new clients
will tell us that they never saw their old provider after the day the plan was
sold. For us, getting the plan is just the beginning. We are looking to build
a long term relationship with both the plan sponsor and each of the participants
individually. Most participants never rebalance their account. They don't
change their asset .allocation as they get closer to retirement. Many never
know if the amount they are saving will allow them to reach their retirement
income goals. Our goal is to provide the education, guidance and support to
help everyone begin and continue saving for retirement.
If you have a retirement plan in place ask yourself the following questions:
- Have we met with someone to discuss the best plan design for
our firm given the demographics of our employees and the goals of the plan?
- Are we made aware of things such as the new contribution limits, changes in
catch-up contribution limits, and the Roth 401k option?
|
- Do we have an established Investment Policy Statement that outlines the goals
and objectives of our plan in accordance with ERISA 404c? Is it reviewed and
updated annually?
- Do we receive an annual review of the funds in our plan? Does our investment
advisor make suggestions for replacements or put funds on a watch list if necessary?
|
- Does our investment advisor provide the opportunity for annual meetings with the
participants in the plan? Will our advisor meet with the participants individually
to review their financial situation?
- Have all fees for the plan been fully disclosed to us in writing?
|
If you've answered no to any of these questions, it may be time for a retirement
plan review.
